Solanine is a poisonous substance obtained from patestes shoots and tomato, found in the leaves, fruits, tubers of plants.
Even its small amount is very toxic. Apart from its bacterial and fungicidal effects, it is also used in the treatment of epilepsy due to its narcotic properties.
Especially potatoes put up for sale should be screened for solanine. Solanine amount should be less than 0.02 mg / g. Foods containing 1 mg / g or more of solanine cause poisoning.

- Burning throat
- Headache, dizziness
The amount of solanine is increasing, especially in greened potatoes. The release of 200-400 mg of poison in the blood has a lethal effect.
