What is Salmonellosis?

Salmonellosis, known as
Salmonella infection and caused by salmonella bacteria, is one of the most common consequences of food poisoning.

Salmonella bacteria living in the intestines of animals and humans can enter the human body mostly through fecal contamination of water and food.

As a result of salmonellosis, symptoms with diarrhea, fever and abdominal pain are seen between 8-72 hours. In healthy individuals, recovery is seen within 1-2 days.

General Symptoms
- Fire
- Diarrhea
- Trembling
- Abdominal Pain
- Sometimes Vomiting
- Blood in Stool

Ways of protection from Salmonella:
- Raw, undercooked eggs, meat and poultry should not be eaten
- Raw and unpasteurized milk or dairy products should not be consumed
- All foods should be thoroughly washed
- Cross contamination should be prevented
- Hands should be washed regularly and well
